October 2004 An old server that was given to me at the end of it's useful life. I cleaned up the inside, re routed the cables and moved the hard drives about etc. This server was retired in October 2004.

The file server before I moved the two SCSI hard drives from the bottom standard sized bays to the larger bays higher up. I also re-rooted all the cables for better air flow.

The file server after I moved the two drives. When the door on the front of the server is opened, you can now feel how hot the drives are. They were nice and cool, despite removing two of the front fans and moving the rear fan up. They seem to be better cooled in that position now they are further apart from each other.

August 2000 A very old PC that I purchased about 1996. After cleaning up the inside, replacing the IDE cables with those nice red and yellow ones, upgrading the sound card and some other modifications, this PC was still in use in 2005. Now retired.
The PC after I changed the standard IDE cables for the round cables. This saves on space and also allows the air to flow around easier inside the case.

January 2005 In January 2005 I built a computer from scratch for the very fist time. Three computers were built, all of which, worked first time. It costs a fraction of the price compared to buying a retail computer off the shelf. The rewards and personal satisfaction are well worth the effort.
